I started at Riverside in 2018 and I work as a nursing assistant about 3 days a week. I came because thought I would like to work with animals but I had no previous experience so I didn't really know what it would be like. I have found that I do really enjoy it and I am now enrolled on the Level 2 Veterinary Nursing Assistant course at college.
Most of my work involves keeping the animals clean and comfortable, feeding, them and taking them outside. The more training I do the more tasks I am able to get involved in which is really exciting. Through my course I can now do more advanced things like giving medications and helping with procedures as long as I am supervised. After I have completed my nursing assistant course I would like to go on to to the nursing diploma and become a fully qualified veterinary nurse.
I also spend time on reception, answering phones and helping clients. I like chatting with the owners and meeting their pets. There is a lot to learn, and this is a big part of my training too.
I grew up in this area and we have always had dogs which we bought to Riverside. I now have a new puppy of my own, a dalmation called Hugo who is keeping me busy at home too. In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and going to the gym and I like socialising with my friends. My main ambition at the moment is to complete my course and get onto the nursing diploma.
