Louise Cole BVM&S PgDip (CABC) MRCVS MABVA
After qualifying from Edinburgh University in 1999 I have worked in various general practices as well as spending 5 years locuming all over England and Wales. I joined Riverside in 2015 and I work 3 days a week here.
I have completed a Foundation Course in Veterinary Acupuncture and I am a member of the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists. It is great to be able to offer this treatment option to my patients. It can be used for a variety of cases but most commonly it can offer additional relief from chronic pain in arthritis cases which can make such a difference to a pets quality of life.
I also have a Post Graduate Certificate in Companion Animal Behaviour Councelling from Southampton University. This, again is a wonderful thing to be able to offer as it often involves bringing a pet and owners relationship back into harmony. Behaviour cases are rarely straight forward and getting to the bottom of a pets behaviour and giving the owner tools to deal with it is very rewarding.
I always wanted to be a vet and I started work experience in our local practice when I was 13. The vet there tried hard to put me off but when he found that I was determined he helped me along the way. What I love about being a vet is the satisfaction of getting a patient back home and enjoying life again.
