I came to Riverside in 2016 to start my veterinary nurse training. I started as a nursing assistant for several months before registering on the nursing course. Before that I did a L3 Animal Management course and I worked at Usk College as an Animal Care Assistant and Demonstrator. I also spent a bit of time working as a veterinary receptioinst as well so I knew what veterinary practice was like. I originally wanted to be a vet but I decided on veterinary nursing where I can spend more time caring for the animals.
Riverside is like a family and I love seeing the patients get better and feeling I have contributed, especially in complicated cases. I have now almost finished my training, with just my final set of exams to go and I am looking forward to becoming a fully qualified RVN.
I grew up in rural places but we moved around a bit. There were always animals around, especially horses and dogs. I lived in Brunei until I was 6, and I remember having a pet monkey called George who lived in the garden. I love all animals but my favourite are wolves, although if I were an animal I would describe myself as a bear - lovely and cuddly, most of the time.
In my spare time I go out walking with my dog (as long as there's a clear path), I don't like to get too adventurous. I love riding but my pony's a bit of a handful, so it gets a bit exciting at times. I love writing stories and I have had some poetry published already. In the future I would love to write about life in veterinary practice.
