Karen Meadowcroft VPAC
I started at Riverside nearly 20 years ago after working in retail for many years. There was a receptionist job advertised and I thought it would be an interesting change of career. I worked here as a receptionist for several years before moving into an admin role and completing the Certificate in Veterinary Practice Administration (VPAC).
I have recently become the Practice Manager and the best things about the job are meeting all the people and their pets. As manager I enjoy sorting out all the little problems that come up. I like being a Hetty Wainthropp and getting to the bottom of things, especially when they're a bit complicated. I also like looking after the staff, listening to their problems and helping if I can. I don't mind at all that they call me Mum, one of my favourite animals are polar bears because of the dedication they show to their babies.
We've always had dogs at home but unfortunately not at the moment as we love to go travelling a lot. I enjoy diving, especially in warmer waters abroad and I would love to spend more time diving in exotic places. I go motorbiking around the UK with my husband, and we like to go anywhere new. We recently cruised up the Amazon where we saw such amazing animals and wonderful cultures, it was a once in a lifetime experience.
I would describe myself as fun-loving and adventurous. I enjoy mysteries and detective stories, I love to spend time socialising with my family and friends and I go to yoga classes every week.
